Sadagaat Charity Organization Conducts a Community Awareness Session on Child Protection in Emergencies in The Northern State – Halfa Locality.

Organized by Sadagaat Charity Organization with the support of UNICEF Sudan, a community awareness session on child protection in emergencies was held in the Northern State – Halfa Locality.

The session was conducted as part of emergency protection activities in the Ashghal neighborhood of Halfa locality, Northern State.

The session was attended by several social and psychological researchers, along with community facilitators working under the “Saleema” program. Four main awareness topics were presented:

  1. Awareness of the dangers of landmines and war remnants (explosive and non-explosive):
    • Illustrated materials and field explanations were used to describe the types of remnants, safe ways to handle them, and warning signs of danger.
    • Leaflets were distributed containing the hotline number 60666 dedicated to reporting landmines and suspicious objects.

  2. Gender-based violence:
    • The types and negative impacts of gender-based violence on individuals and society were explained, as well as protection and support mechanisms.

  3. Family reunification and unaccompanied children:
    • The session emphasized the role of the community and the importance of reporting and cooperating to reunite unaccompanied children with their families.
    • Attendees were introduced to the protection and support mechanisms of the “Saleema” program.

  4. Harmful social practices:
    • The session focused specifically on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage.
    • An educational theatrical performance was presented on FGM, highlighting its harmful effects and the risks it poses to girls’ health.

Additionally, awareness messages supporting the “Saleema” program were shared, addressing the importance of child protection, preventing early marriage, and combating gender-based violence.
