Sadagaat Charity Organization Inaugurates a Solar Power Station and Supports Smallholder Farmers in East Nile Locality

As part of the project “Enhancing the Resilience of Returnees and Host Communities in East Nile,” implemented with the support of UNDP Sudan, and under the patronage and presence of the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Khartoum State, Dr. Sir Al-Khatim Fadl Al-Mawla, along with members of his office and senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, and in the presence of the Director of Al-Aylafon Administrative Unit, Mr. Al-Tarifi, as well as several civil society leaders, Sadagaat Charity Organization inaugurated a solar power station to operate the East Al-Baqir agricultural water pump.

The solar station has a capacity of 75 kilowatts (equivalent to 100 horsepower) and operates using 160 solar panels. The project aims to support agricultural initiatives and promote the use of clean and renewable energy.

The inauguration ceremony included speeches by representatives of Sadagaat Charity Organization, the Minister, the representative of the locality’s Executive Director, and a representative of the local community. Speakers highlighted the importance of the project in improving water supply and supporting the stability of agricultural activities in the area.

Following the inauguration, the delegation moved to Al-Aylafon area under the Smallholder Farmers Support Project, where agricultural tools and various types of seeds were distributed to beneficiaries to enhance agricultural production and strengthen livelihoods.

The program also included a visit to Abu Zaid Al-Ghaba village, where 30 small farms (small agricultural plot next to their homes) were inaugurated. Beneficiaries received complete agricultural toolkits and assorted seeds, in addition to a 1,000-liter water tank for each farm along with irrigation hoses. This intervention aims to improve irrigation and increase agricultural productivity.
