At the invitation of Proximate Fund Sudan, Sadagaat Charity Organization participated in “Rebuilding Sudan: Financing Community-Led Recovery,” held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sadagaat was represented by Eng. Issam Ghandour, President of Sadagaat USA, and Eng. Hatim Badr, Vice President of Sadagaat Canada, who participated as speakers.

The discussion highlighted the current situation in Sudan and the evolving needs of affected communities, while sharing Sadagaat’s experience in responding to humanitarian needs and supporting community-led recovery through restoring essential services, strengthening livelihoods, rebuilding community infrastructure, and helping communities regain stability and self-reliance.

The participation also emphasized the importance of localization and the need for more flexible and sustainable funding for Sudanese-led organizations, whose local knowledge, community trust, and operational presence enable them to deliver effective and accountable responses.

The event brought together philanthropists, funding partners, foundations, Sudanese national NGOs, diaspora leaders, and localization advocates to explore how financing can better support Sudanese institutions and community initiatives.

Sudanese communities are not only surviving—they are rebuilding. Sustainable recovery must be community-led, locally owned, and supported through equitable, long-term partnerships.
