As part of strengthening collaboration and development partnerships, Sadagaat Charity
Organization, a partner of Mercy Corps and the World Food Programme, is a part of
implementation of the Sudan Transition and Recovery Support Multi-Donor Trust Fund (STARS), managed by the World Bank, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and under the supervision of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in the Northern State.
Within this framework, Sadagaat is implementing “Sudan – Enhancing Community Resilience” Project “THABAT” in collaboration with Mercy Corps.
The project targets four localities in the Northern State: Dongola, Al-Burgaig, Al-Dabbah, and
Merowe. According to the agreement, Sadagaat serves as the national partner in implementing
the project in the state through two main activities:
– Building the capacities of Community Extension Trainers (CETs) and extension officers enabling communities to adopt improved farming practices and apply climate-smart agricultural techniques.
– Identifying and strengthening agricultural input and service suppliers to meet the needs of selected agricultural cooperatives in the Northern State.
Sadagaat affirms that the project is a significant step towards achieving more sustainable
agricultural development and strengthening the role of farmers and agricultural cooperatives as
a cornerstone in boosting production and ensuring food security in the Northern State.
