Amid the difficult circumstances caused by the war, “Mohamed Allam”, a child from El Fasher, was injured by a gunshot wound to the head that affected his ability to speak and impacted his mobility. This marked the beginning of a challenging journey in search of the medical care he urgently needed.
Following the injury, “Mohamed” was displaced with his family on a difficult journey, while he continued to suffer from the consequences of the incident for weeks. The bullet remained lodged in his head, and a brain abscess developed, further worsening his medical condition.
When the referral team at Sadagaat Charity Organization received a report about “Mohamed’s” case, he was supported through the Referral System under the Health and Nutrition Project, funded by the Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF) through Alight, as part of the Emergency Response Program within the first 48 hours. Through this intervention, “Mohamed” was referred to Dongola Police Hospital, Northern State, where he underwent a critical surgery to remove the bullet and treat the brain abscess.
During his treatment and recovery period, “Mohamed” received the necessary support to access healthcare services, including assistance with transportation, treatment-related expenses, and essential needs, in addition to psychological support that helped him cope with the impact of the traumatic experience.
Following the successful surgery, “Mohamed” regained his ability to speak and showed improvement in his mobility, giving him a renewed opportunity to return to his daily life. His story reflects the impact achieved through the Referral Program under the Health and Nutrition Project; by facilitating access to specialized medical services and providing comprehensive support to the most vulnerable cases, the program helped save critical cases and provided patients with a real opportunity for treatment and recovery.
A campaign to donate voluntary blood at Elsafwa Group in partnership with the Central Blood Bank was held as part of the project's efforts to develop the culture of voluntary blood donation and to fill the blood shortage and blood products at the Central Blood Bank.
A total of 23 bottles of blood were donated.
Sadagaat Charity Organization carried out the "Central Blood Bank Equipment Project - Kassala" by providing 2 refrigerators to save blood stocks and 6 blood donation chairs as part of the health system strengthening program.
The project ensures the availability and sustainability of blood services.
The cost is $7,000 guaranteed by Sadagaat community.

South Darfur state was targeted as part of a Health System Strengthening program to support the sustained delivery of medical oxygen services to the State's health and treatment institutions, and the project contributed to the provision of medical oxygen at Nyala Teaching Hospital.
The oxygen generator installed with the assistance of The Sudanese American Physicians Association – SAPA, and the hospital's oxygen distribution network was installed with the assistance of PepsiCo
